Crooked teeth can make you feel bad about your smile, make it harder to clean your teeth properly, and lead to a higher risk of complications like premature tooth wear. If you’d like to straighten your smile in Marietta but don’t want to get traditional braces, Dr. Bret Frye and his team are here to help. At Frye Dental Group, we specialize in Invisalign. With this clear alternative to braces, you can straighten your smile without brackets, wires, or rubber bands.
Invisalign is an alternative to braces that uses clear, thin plastic “aligners” instead of braces. These aligners look similar to retainers or sports mouthguards. Each aligner is crafted to exert gentle pressure on your teeth and move them into the proper position.
By switching through multiple sets of aligners under the supervision of Dr. Frye and our team, you can correct crooked teeth, crowded teeth, gaps in your smile, and even bite issues like overbites and underbites. In most cases, you can transform your smile in just 12-18 months.
Before you can get Invisalign, you’ll need to meet with Dr. Frye and get an orthodontic exam. He will examine your teeth, take X-rays of your smile, and determine if you’re a good candidate for Invisalign.
If you’re approved for Invisalign, Dr. Frye will discuss your expected treatment time, costs, and other details of your plan. Then, he will take 3D scans of your mouth. Then, he’ll work with Invisalign to create your treatment plan and design your first several sets of aligners.
A few weeks after your fitting, you’ll come back to Frye Dental Group to pick up your new aligners. Dr. Frye will give you instructions on how to wear your new aligners and care for your smile during treatment. Then, you’ll be sent home to begin your Invisalign treatment.
You’ll need to wear your new aligners for about 20-22 hours per day for the best results. Typically, you will switch to a new set of aligners every two weeks. You also will need to come to Frye Dental Group for a checkup every six weeks. At your checkup, Dr. Frye will check your progress, make sure your teeth are healthy, and provide you with your next few sets of aligners.
You’ll continue wearing your aligners and coming in for checkups until your teeth and bite are perfectly aligned, which usually takes 12-18 months. Once your treatment is over, Dr. Frye will provide you with a permanent or removable retainer. This ensures that your new smile doesn’t shift or move.
